The Technical section is organized as a component part of the Civil Aviation Department. It is authorized and delegated by the Director General of the DCA to carry out all the following functions.
- Register aircraft and maintain a national register,
- Myanmar does not issue air traffic controller, flight operation officer and aeronautical
station operator licences.
- Issue, renew or validate Certificates of Airworthiness;
- Issue, amend, cancel and suspend licenses and certificates,
- Issue Airworthiness Directives, Advisory Circulars, Notices, and other documents consistent with the Airworthiness regulations; and
- Scrutinize/monitoring an maintenance engineering organization to comply with safety standards promulgated under the civil aviation regulation
- The safe transportation of dangerous cargoes.
- Assessment of the Noise Standard of the Aircraft and issue the Necessary Noise Certificate.
- Participate in the Accident/Incident Investigation with other relevant department and authorities.
- Bilateral and Regional cooperation.
- Approval of Maintenance organization and continuous monitoring of their activities.
- Approval of the Maintenance Schedule/Program.
